Lyvonne Sullivan Canady

    Lyvonne Sullivan Canady, age 74, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro. Born in Johnston county on April 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William Jasper Sullivan and Virginia Dare Gurley.

    Lyvonne was an active cosmetologist for 42 years. She was the owner of Lyvonne’s Hairstyling where she made lifelong friendships and enjoyed being creative and making her clients feel beautiful. She served as the president of the Johnston County Cosmetology Association, The NC Cosmetology Association, and was a platform artist for the Wella Company. Lyvonne also worked for Mars Candy Company for 10 years, and was known as the “M&M lady”. She loved dressing up and to her there was nothing better than a pair of high heels. Most of all, she loved her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

    A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, just prior to the service.

    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Snookie Sullivan; Shelton Sullivan; Nelson Sullivan; and significant other, Roderick Russell.

    Lyvonne is survived by her son, James Canady Jr. of Garner; daughter, Cyndi Joyner of Princeton; grandchildren, Brandon Joyner and Fiancé Presley Whitley of Princeton; Chloe Joyner of Princeton; and brother, Frankie Sullivan of Pine Level.
