    Selma – Randy Dean Taylor, 63, passed away at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.

    Randy was born in Catawba Station, N. C. the son of the late George Sherrill and Lilly Nadine Hovis Taylor. Randy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He grew up in an orphanage, Miracle Hill, in Pickens, S.C., with his sister and three brothers until the age of 18. He moved to Stoney Point, NC where he was close by his aunts and uncles.

    He proceeded to work hard everyday to have something for himself. He married his first wife and they had a son. He worked on pig farms and with his grandpa, learning everything he could. He then moved to Rockingham, NC where he worked his way up to manager of the Carol Company which produced high end furniture.

    While there he met his forever wife Debbie Coleman. They got married Nov. 10, 1989 and later had a daughter, Tonia Nadean. They moved to Selma, NC in Oct. of 1993 where he continued working in the furniture business, Williamsburg Woodcraft, while also starting his own woodworking business. In 1997 he purchased Popeye’s Gas & Grill which he owned and operated alongside his wife and daughter until late 2021.

    He was known in the community as honest and hardworking. He was a friend to everyone and always helped anyone he could. He was able to purchase a farm which he loved and where he raised cows, produced hay and worked with his tractors.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday July 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Parrish Funeral home Chapel. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service from 12 Noon- 1:00 PM.

    Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Neal Taylor and George B. Taylor.

    Randy is survived by his wife Debbie Taylor; their daughter, Tonia Grimes and husband Michael Grimes; along with two beautiful granddaughters, Lylah Grimes and Kailynn Grimes; his son, Chad Taylor and wife Alyssa and grandson Wyatt; stepsons, Jimi Stewart, and Gary Stewart, three step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles and good friend Louie Correia; sister; Trisha Smith and Allen Taylor.
