Ray Tedder

    On the morning of July 31, 2022 Ray Tedder of Selma NC went home to be with the Lord at the age of 91. He was at home surrounded by all of his loving family. 

    Ray was a Sergeant in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War as an Assistant Gunner on the Chafee M-24 Tanks. He spoke often about how much he enjoyed his time in service  He began working as an auto mechanic when he returned home from Germany he worked at Bruce Flournoy Ford in Virginia Beach VA and Pippin Motors in Smithfield NC before he began working with the NCDOT. 

    Ray loved his family very much and he liked playing his guitar at church He and several of his friends would get together to play music and sing every month. They also enjoyed visiting the county jail and nursing homes playing and singing gospel music. He also liked vintage cars, gardening, doing small engine repair and taking care of his cat.

    Wife: Mary Nell Tedder
    Sisters: Glennie T Rogers, Janie T Barefoot
    Half Siblings: Gernie Hawley, Garland Hawley, Gertie H Pittman and Gladys H Campen  
    Sons: James R Tedder and Allen K Tedder

    Ray was married to the love of his life Mary Nell Tedder for 43 years.

    He is survived by their children:
    Daughters: Diane Revell of Selma NC, Debbie Davison (Russ) of Clayton NC, Cathy Trogdon of Smithfield
    NC, Mylinda Revell (Phil) of Pine Level NC
    Son: Steven Tedder of Selma, NC.
    12 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren

    Visitation will be on Saturday August 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Parrish Funeral Home located at 1351 S. Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576. Funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Officiant: Phillip Revell.
     
    A burial with Military Honors will be held at Selma Memorial Gardens.
