Four Oaks, NC: Mr. William “Billy Wood” Sanders, Sr., age 90, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Memorial Services will be held 6:00PM-Monday, April 25, 2022 at Antioch United Methodist Church outside Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Walter Gaskins will officiate. Private Burial will follow at a later date.
Mr. Sanders was born on January 21, 1932 in Johnston County, NC to the late Rufus Sanders, Sr., and Vidah Wood Sanders. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie B. Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a farmer and owned SanWood Farms outside Four Oaks, NC. He was a charter member of the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department. Mr. Sanders was also a US Army Veteran and member of the Four Oaks American Legion Post 346. He was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, Four Oaks, NC.
Surviving include children, William Wood “Billy” Sanders, Jr., and wife, Kathy, Angela Joyner and husband, Danny, and Scott Sanders and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, William Wood Sanders, III, Kathryn Sanders, Joshua Joyner and wife, Caroline, and Matthew Sanders; sisters, Laura Beth Barbour and husband, Joe Mack, and Ann Durham; brother, Rufus Sanders, Jr., and wife Linda; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the fellowship hall of Antioch United Methodist Church 5289 US HWY 701 S. Four Oaks, NC 27524.
