One stop early voting for the 2021 municipal elections got underway Thursday. Early voting will take place October 14 – 29 (Monday through Friday) from 8:00am until 5:00pm, and on Saturday, October 30th from 8:00am until 3:00pm at the Johnston County Board of Elections at 205 S. Second Street in Smithfield.

Voters can cast a ballot early for any of the municipal elections in Johnston County, with the exception of the Town of Smithfield. Municipal elections will take place on November 2, 2021. The Town of Smithfield will hold their elections on March 8, 2022.

Johnston County Elections Director Leigh Ann Price said turnout has been slow. Three hours after early voting got underway today, only two people had cast a ballot.

  1. Oh goodie another opportunity for fraudulent voting to take place for the next 15 days! We need paper ballots, smaller precincts, hand count the ballots, no machines and one day, in person voting with it being a federal/municipal holiday so people are off work. #voteamish
