Pedestrian Involved In Fatal Crash Identified
A pedestrian involved in a fatal crash early Tuesday on Highway 50 North at Old Drug Store Road in Johnston County has been identified.
The victim has been identified as 29 year-old Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez-Muniz, of Glen
Echo Drive, Garner, a Johnston County address.
Rodrigues-Muniz was sitting in the roadway at 5:33am when he was struck and killed by a 2016 Dodge Charger traveling northbound on Highway 50. The driver stopped at the scene and called 911 reporting the accident.
“It was a team effort that helped identify Mr. Rodriguez-Muniz. State troopers worked non-stop investigating the crash and attempting to identify him through various means. Last night, an alert Sheriff’s Office telecommunicator recognized that a caller was potentially describing the victim. The telecommunicator called me, and within a few minutes we were able to confirm his identity,” said Johnston County Medical Examiner Jason Thompson.
The driver will not face any charges.
