SMITHFIELD – A Johnston County school bus was rear-ended Tuesday morning. The accident was reported around 7:45am on Cleveland Road, near the Polenta Road intersection.
A white SUV collided with the rear of the school bus. There were no injuries reported to either driver or to any of the 25 students on board the bus.
After the investigation, the bus was allowed to complete its route.
The collision caused heavy traffic congestion and traffic was detoured off of Cleveland Road for a short while.
The State Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
