“Scott Harper has dedicated his 43 year career to serve the community of Selma. For that we are thankful. The Town of Selma would like to honor Scott for his commitment to excellence by announcing him as this year’s Grand Marshal of the Christmas in Selma 2022 Tree Lighting and Parade,” said Michael Johnson, Town of Selma Recreation Program Manager.
The festivities start at 6:00pm in front of the Selma Town Hall, located at 114 N. Raiford Street with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. There will be a special holiday performance by Johnston County Choie and the Benson Baptist Hand Bells.
The Junior Women’s League of Smithfield is hosting a reindeer food-making station for children. You can also check off items on your Christmas list by shopping at local stores.

Sweet sweet man!
This is a well deserved honor for Mr. Harper. Every time I see him at Bojangles he is always working hard and trying to help the business. Sometimes I have seen him tell some of the younger workers to get going and not play around. They have to be taught over and over to have a strong work ethic unlike Mr. Harper’s generations and before. There are no free lunches out there.
We are proud and lucky to have had Scott in our organization for so many years. He has represented our brand well. He has the ability to look at business from both sides of the counter. We wish him health and happiness in his retirement. It is outstanding that the Town recognizes his accomplishments by Making him Grand Marshall. Well deserved.
