SELMA – The Town of Selma hosted a Steel Topping Out Ceremony on Monday to mark a major milestone in the construction of its new Public Works Facility. The new, 7,000-square-foot building is made possible through funding provided by the North Carolina General Assembly.

The new facility will replace the Town’s aging public works building, which has served the community for approximately 70 years. Once completed, it will house the Streets Department, Sanitation Department, and Maintenance Division, significantly improving operational efficiency and service delivery for residents.

“We are grateful for the support from the General Assembly, including Representative Larry Strickland and Senator Benton Sawrey, which allows us to invest in vital infrastructure,” said Mayor Byron McAllister. “This new facility represents the Town of Selma’s continued commitment to providing exceptional services to our community.”

Construction is currently underway, with completion of the public works facility later this year.
