Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry Route To Suspend Service Sept. 12-15 For Ramp Repairs

SOUTHPORT, N.C. – The N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division will temporarily suspend service on the Southport-Fort Fisher ferry route beginning Sept. 12 to allow crews to make critical repairs to the ferry ramp at the Southport Terminal.

The work will complete the ramp repair process that began in March and is necessary to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the route.

The repairs will require the Southport-Fort Fisher route to suspend operations for no more than four days. Ferry service will resume its regular off-season schedule no later than Sept. 16.

Travelers who normally use the Southport-Fort Fisher ferry should plan accordingly while the route is out of service.
