Spirit Of Nahunta Harvest Day Saturday, September 21

PIKEVILLE – The annual Spirit of Nahunta Harvest Day will be held Saturday, September 21st from 10:00am until 4:00pm at Nahunta Friends Meeting, located at 2537 NC 581, Pikeville, NC.

The festival, now in its third year, celebrates the unique heritage of the Nahunta Community and its rich history in Eastern North Carolina, and is aimed for the community and families to come together.

Festivities planned for this year include:

– Old Country Store.

– A Pie Baking Contest.

– Silent Auction – A chance to bid on homemade cakes, baskets and other local items.

– Lots and lots of food – Hotdogs, BBQ as well as a lemonade stand.

– Music will be provided by local church groups as well Charles B. Aycock Falconettes & Falconaires Alumni.

– Heritage Hall will celebrate Nahunta School and its special place in the heart of the community.

– A Christmas Tree Festival with holiday trees from each church in the community will be on display.

– Children’s play area including Storytime.

– Antique Farm Equipment and Tractor Show.

– Native American salute to Nahunta Indians (Nahunta’s original residents).

“We want everyone to come out and see just how special the Nahunta Community is. This is an event to celebrate our heritage but also to bring everyone together. Even if you aren’t from Nahunta, please come and join us. We would love to have you come visit,” said Suzanne Pope, Chairperson of the Harvest Day event.
