Employee Arrested After Student Finds Gun At Christian School

GOLDSBORO – An employee at Faith Christian Academy in Goldsboro is facing criminal charges, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 22, 2024, the School Resource Officer at Faith Christian Academy was notified by a school faculty member that a firearm was located inside a restroom at the school. The faculty member relayed to the resource officer the weapon was found by an elementary-aged student who immediately notified their teacher. The officer went to where the gun was found, located it, and secured the weapon.

After a brief investigation by the resource officer and school administration, it was reportedly determined Carla D. McComb, a concealed handgun carry permittee and an employee of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, was the person who had left the firearm in the restroom moments before the student located it.

McComb, age 46, of Kinston, was charged with possession of a weapon on educational property and released on a $1,000 secured bond.

  1. Just plain dumb! Couldn’t costed a child their life being so careless! She should never be allowed on educational property ever!

  2. Yet another “responsible” gun owner… leaving a loaded firearm that was found by an elementary school student. And she’s released on a $1000 bond?!?!
