Benson Man Charged In Bentonville Break-In

NEWTON GROVE – A 32 year-old Benson man was arrested on felony charges after Johnston County deputies responded to a breaking and entering in progress call.

Around 11:39pm Thursday, February 1, deputies responded to a report of a break-in on Crepe Myrtle Lane, off Williams Road, in the Bentonville community.

Deputies located a vehicle parked partially in the roadway and the suspect, Joshua Bruce Blackman of T-Bard Road, Benson, walking nearby. Blackman was detained and while being searched three electrical panel breakers were reportedly found in his pocket. During a search of a vacant resident, officers found evidence where the breakers had allegedly been removed.

Blackman reportedly claimed he had permission to be in the home.

He was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny. Bail was set at $25,000.
