Wake County Tax Preparer Charged In State Tax Case

RALEIGH – On Monday, a Raleigh tax preparer was arrested on felony tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Fwala Serge Muyamuna, 55, of Wake Forest, was charged with 26 counts of Aiding or Assisting in the Preparation of Fraudulent North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns and one count of Felony Obstructing Justice.

Indictments were issued against Muyamuna, the manager, operator, and a tax return preparer of Tax Experts/D & V Taxes & Accounting/DV Taxes in Raleigh. Muyamuna’s indictments include 26 felony charges for aiding and assisting in the preparation of false North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns for clients for tax years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 and one felony charge of obstructing justice.

Muyamuna appeared before a Wake County magistrate and was being held under a $250,000 secured bond.

The charges against Muyamuna resulted from an investigation by special agents with the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division in Raleigh.
