Wilkes County Register Of Deeds Arrested

WILKESBORO, N.C. – The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation SBI has arrested Wilkes County Register of Deeds Misty Michelle Smithey following a drug investigation in Wilkes County.
Smithey, age 48, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and conspiracy to possess methamphetamine. She was taken into custody March 11 without incident and booked into the Wilkes County Detention Center. She was issued a $5,000 secured bond.
Further details about the investigation, including potential additional suspects or charges, are not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
