Deputies: Two Juveniles Linked To Pool Burglary And Middle School Vandalism

GRANTHAM, N.C. — Two juveniles have been charged following an investigation into a break-in at the Grantham community pool and a separate vandalism incident at a nearby middle school.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began investigating a reported breaking and entering on June 20 at the Grantham Pool on Grantham School Road. Authorities said numerous items were stolen during the burglary.

Two days later, security cameras captured two juveniles trespassing on the campus of Grantham Middle School, where investigators said they threw several cinderblocks from the roof of the school, destroying the blocks and causing damage to school property.

Patrol deputies later located and identified the juveniles before escorting them to their homes. As the investigation continued, detectives determined the same two juveniles were responsible for both the pool break-in and the school vandalism, according to the sheriff’s office.

Juvenile petitions were obtained against the 12-year-old and 13-year-old.

The juveniles each face charges of breaking and entering, larceny, two counts of trespassing, and injury to personal property.

Because they are juveniles, their identities were not released.
