BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After nearly two decades of service to Campbell University, Hannah Bazemore has resigned from her role as director of athletics, accepting the role of senior deputy athletics director and senior woman administrator at Florida State.

“On behalf of the Campbell family, I want to thank Hannah Bazemore for her years of service and leadership,” said Campbell University President, Dr. William Downs. “We also wish her the very best as she ventures out into a new chapter and a new season in her professional journey. Campbell Athletics will move immediately to initiate the search for our next AD, and we look forward to building a culture of competitive excellence and expanding our reputation as a home for championship programs.”

“Campbell has been so much more than a university or a place I have worked; it has been home for more than two decades,” said Bazemore. “I came here as a student and was given opportunities that shaped me both personally and professionally, and I will always be grateful for the people who believed in me and allowed me to grow here. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my career to serve my alma mater and to lead Campbell Athletics. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and, more importantly, of the relationships and friendships that will stay with me long after I leave Buies Creek. Campbell will always be a very special place to me and my family, and I will always be proud to be a Fighting Camel. Roll Humps!”

A two-time Campbell graduate, Bazemore has guided the Fighting Camels’ athletic department since 2022, previously serving as senior associate athletics director for business and finance, as well as assistant director for business operations and business manager, joining the Campbell Athletics staff in a full-time capacity in 2010 after serving as a graduate assistant in the department.

She was officially elevated to the AD role in November 2022, dropping “acting” from her title after taking over the role on an interim basis in July.

Since Bazemore joined CU Athletics, the Fighting Camels have clinched 65 conference championships, and after occupying the AD chair, she oversaw the transition from the Big South Conference to the Coastal Athletic Association in 2023, further elevating Campbell’s athletics profile.

Bazemore has engaged and managed virtually every administrative area during her time at her alma mater, including financial planning of a multimillion dollar operation, budgeting, information technology, facilities, game operations, athletic equipment operations, and capital projects, including a sports performance center and softball turf project, among others.

Bazemore graduated from Campbell in 2007 with a bachelor of science in sports management with a minor in business administration. She earned an MBA from Campbell in 2009. She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) and Women Leaders in College Sports.
