Johnston County Commissioners have approved a federal grant for the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office to purchase additional new weapons.
In a memo to County Manager Rick Hester, Sheriff Steve Bizzell said he had applied for a $11,793.00 federal grant to purchase 12 Smith & Wesson rifles. The purchase will complete the assignment of rifles to deputies at the Sheriff’s Office. Hester said the sheriff’s office has received verbal notification they will be receiving the grant.
No local matching funds will be required.
