Johnston Deputies Investigating Second Wave of Car Break-Ins

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. – Less than two weeks after the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a string of vehicle break-ins near Selma, deputies are now investigating a second rash of thefts targeting vehicles in another part of the county.

This week, numerous vehicles were broken into in neighborhoods throughout the Cleveland community.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, thieves stole a variety of valuables from the vehicles, including a laptop computer, sunglasses, wallets, credit and debit cards, cash, a firearm, a purse and a passport.

The break-ins were reported at the following locations:

  • Bornearn Drive (two separate victims)
  • Kyndalllee Lane
  • Kaspurr Drive
  • Carrington Drive (two separate victims)
  • Colson Drive (two separate victims)
  • Nightshade Lane (two separate victims)

Investigators do not believe the incidents in Selma and the Cleveland community are connected.

No suspects have been identified in the Cleveland-area cases, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to take precautions by locking vehicle doors, removing valuables from parked vehicles, which can greatly reduce you from becoming a victim.

Deputies also encourage residents to report suspicious people or vehicles in their neighborhoods immediately. Anyone with information about the recent break-ins is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.
