Juvenile Robbery Suspects Lead Officers On High Speed Chase

Three juvenile robbery suspects are in custody following a three-county high speed chase.  At 11:08pm Tuesday, a license plate reader in Garner alerted Garner Police to a stolen vehicle.  A Garner police officer located the stolen car on US 70. He followed the car from US 70 onto I-40 as he waited for additional backup officers to arrive.

When the officer turned on his blue lights to stop the car on Interstate 40 eastbound the driver accelerated leading police on a chase along I-40 into Johnston County, onto the US 70 Bypass, and US 70 through Johnston County.

Near the Johnston-Wayne County line, Princeton Police deployed stop sticks deflating the tires on the fleeing vehicle. The car stopped just inside the Wayne County line where three occupants jumped and ran.  They were all captured a short time later.  One of the juvenile suspects who was fleeing sustained a minor bite wound from a Garner Police K-9 tracking them.  

Garner Police Deputy Chief Mike McIver said the car had been reported stolen to Goldsboro Police.  The suspects were taken into custody by Raleigh Police in connection with a number of armed robberies.

A handgun was also recovered.  All three suspects are juvenile teenagers.

No officers were injured during the pursuit and no accidents occurred.
