SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police are investigating a shooting reported at 8:12am Saturday.
Officers responded to a 911 call and found a 47 year-old man in the parking lot of the Soul Food Cafe at 2055 S. Brightleaf Boulevard. He had sustained gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect was taken into custody but their name was not immediately released. Police Captain R. Sheppard said a motive has not been determined.
Police said additional details will be released when possible.
