A Smithfield police officer was recognized by the mayor and town council this month for receiving his Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from the NC Education and Training Standards Commission.
Master Patrol Officer Robert Stewart joins 15 other members of the Smithfield Police Department that have received the recognition. Officer Stewart has been with the department nearly 7 years. He has been a field training officer and worked for the C Squad on patrol. He was recently reassigned to the Smithfield Middle as a School Resource Officer.
Stewart holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Mt. Olive College.
