Target Opens New Store At Eastfield In Selma

SELMA, N.C. — A new Target store officially opened this week at the growing Eastfield development in Selma, bringing a major national retailer and approximately 150 new jobs to Johnston County.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held May 12 to celebrate the soft opening of the 129,000-square-foot store located at 551 Saint Mark Avenue near Interstate 95. The event featured performances by the Smithfield-Selma High School Spartan Regiment Jazz Band.
Store Director Leslie Stevens joined Target management and community leaders for the ceremony, including Selma Mayor Byron McAllister, who praised the partnership between Target and AdVenture Development.
The new store features Target’s latest store design, serving both as a traditional retail location and a fulfillment hub for online orders. Company officials said approximately 95% of Target’s digital orders are fulfilled directly through stores, including same-day delivery services offered through the Target Circle 360 membership program.
The Selma location includes drive-up service, online order pickup, an in-store Starbucks, and a CVS Pharmacy.

Kevin Dougherty, president of AdVenture Development, said the company is pleased to add Target as one of the anchor tenants at Eastfield.
“We are delighted to welcome Target to Eastfield,” Dougherty said. “In addition to the convenience and quality merchandise and services Target brings to our community, we admire their longstanding philanthropic commitment to giving back to local communities and value their role as a major economic driver in Selma.”
Dougherty said the project will strengthen the local tax base while bringing new employment opportunities to the area.
Target is one of the largest tenants in Eastfield, a 435-acre, 3 million-square-foot mixed-use development designed as a “live-work-play” community.
The broader development includes residential neighborhoods, apartments, senior living, retail, office space, restaurants, entertainment venues, and industrial facilities. Current residential projects include Quincy at Eastfield, a 348-unit apartment community under construction, along with hundreds of planned single-family homes.
During the ceremony, the Spartan Regiment Jazz Band performed the theme from “Mission Impossible,” a nod to Target’s “Mission Possible 2030” growth strategy focused on expanding digital services, delivery speed, and multichannel shopping experiences.
