Clayton Police are searching for the driver of a hit and run vehicle that collided with a convenience store then fled from the scene.
The accident occurred Friday night at the Handyman Mart, located at 10419 US 70 Business West.
The store front received extensive damage and was closed by the building inspector until the structure could be inspected and repairs made.
Witnesses said the vehicle drove into the glass storefront, backed up then sped away eastbound on US70. The vehicle was believed to be a silver Jeep Cherokee with front end damage.
There were several people inside the store when it was hit, but luckily there were no injuries.
