Clayton Announces New Location For July 3 Fireworks Display

CLAYTON, N.C. — The Town of Clayton is preparing for its annual Independence Day fireworks celebration, but this year’s event will feature a new launch location due to ongoing construction at Clayton High School.
The fireworks display is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. on Friday, July 3, and is free and open to the public.
Town officials said residents and visitors will be able to view the fireworks from several designated locations, including Clayton Community Park at 1075 Amelia Church Road, the Clayton Community Center parking lot and courts at 715 Amelia Church Road, and Christ the King Church at 1082 Amelia Church Road.
While the fireworks will be launched from a different location this year, organizers say the designated viewing areas will provide good vantage points for spectators.
Restrooms at Clayton Community Park will be available during the event. Portable restrooms will also be located at the Community Center and Christ the King Church. The Community Center building itself will not be open.
Officials encourage attendees to arrive early and carpool when possible. Parking will be restricted to designated areas, and parking along Amelia Church Road and Guy Road will not be permitted. Visitors are also asked not to block streets, driveways, or local businesses.
Clayton Middle School will be closed to the public and will not be available for parking or viewing. The Community Center Connector between the Community Center and Community Park will remain open until shortly before the fireworks begin.
To help ensure a safe and enjoyable event, tents, grills, and alcohol will not be allowed at the viewing sites.
The fireworks display is weather permitting. Town officials said no rain date has been scheduled.
