Driver Killed In Single Vehicle Accident

DUNN – A 50 year-old man died in a single vehicle accident, Sunday morning. The crash was reported at 9:58am on US 421 (Plain View Highway), four miles south of Dunn, in Sampson County.

The Highway Patrol said a 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound when the driver gradually drifted left of center, ran off the road to the left, and struck a mailbox. The vehicle traveled 358 feet before striking a driveway and coming to rest in a ditch in front of 5265 Plain View Highway.

The driver, Kevin Reed White, of Timberlake Drive, Clinton, NC died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

  1. Kevin was one of the nicest, most caring, generous people I’ve ever met. It is my honor to call him my friend and a privilege to have in my life the past 8 years. There isn’t anything Kevin wouldn’t have done for a friend or family member in need. Most of the Dunn/Erwin Community will remember Kevin for the great customer Service they received from him while shopping at the Erwin Lowes where he was know for his smile, laugh and heart. Kevin will be truly missed by the many people who he lives he touched. He will live on in my family’s hearts forever. Love you Brother

  2. I worked at Lowe’s for a short time, but I knew Kevin. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He always had a smile for you and a helping hand if you needed it. I’m shocked and saddened by this news. Prayers for his family. He will truly be missed.
