Mother Charged After Teens Involved In Crash

SAMPSON COUNTY – A mother has been charged following an North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division (NC ALE) investigation into a vehicle crash involving a teen driver and teen passenger.

On March 24, 2023, North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NC SHP) responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a juvenile driver and passenger in Sampson County. At the time of the crash, alcohol was believed to be a factor. NC SHP contacted NC ALE, who began an investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, NC ALE special agents charged the teen driver’s mother, Christy Walsh, 40, of Dunn, NC, with two counts of aid and abet persons less than 21 years of age in possessing an alcoholic beverage, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two counts of giving spirituous liquor to persons under the age 21.

NC ALE special agents often work closely with NC SHP members investigating vehicle collisions resulting in personal injury and or death of persons less than 21 years of age when alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.

  1. She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is just another typical example of a parent not doing their job of parenting.

    • absolutely….you can NOT be your child’s best friend…be the parent…instill morals and responsibility for your actions to your children…if your children don’t tell you (or mumble under their breath) I HATE you…you are not doing your job!…

  2. Those parents that buy alcohol for underaged kids should be arrested, no doubt about it! Too many irresponsible adults trying to be “cool” for their kids and their kids’ friends. Its ridiculous! I remember a few years back, an underage person left a party in Archer Lodge and rolled their vehicle over an embankment. The driver was thrown out and almost died. The parents were never charged, to my knowledge, even though they willingly allowed illegal drugs and purchased alcohol for the partygoers. From what I heard, it was a regular occurence at that house. I’ve seen their son on the JoCo Report – mugshot section, of course. Such a shocker!
