Police in Smithfield are searching for two suspects wanted for an armed robbery.
Detective Sgt. R.D Wood said it happened at 10:16 PM Sunday in the 400 block of Twelfth Street. A 41 year-old man was asleep inside a car when he was awakened by two men. One suspect produced a gun and demanded the victim hand over his money.
The victim told the robbers he had no money, at which time they grabbed his cell phone and fled on foot.
Sgt. Wood said a Police K-9 was brought to the scene and tracked the suspects to the railroad tracks but lost the trail.
The victim was not injured. No arrests have been made.
