Second Arrest Made In Burglary; Charges Dropped Against First Suspect

WILLOW SPRING, N.C. — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a November 2025 break-in in western Johnston County, while charges against the man initially accused in the case have been dismissed.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said Chelsey Lynn Jarman, 33, of Smithfield, formerly of NC Highway 210, Angier, was arrested April 8 and charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny. She was given a $15,000 secured bond.

The charges stem from a Nov. 5 burglary on Honeycutt Road, where deputies responded around 10:53 a.m. after the homeowner reported a break-in.

Investigators previously said an abandoned U-Haul truck was found stuck in the yard with stolen property inside, including a bed headboard, antique scale, ammunition can, irrigation pump and air conditioner, valued at about $650.

William Vaughan Olive, 35, of Angier, was arrested in December 2025 in connection with the case. However, the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office dismissed felony breaking and entering and larceny charges against him on Jan. 6, 2026.

According to court documents, there was insufficient evidence to move forward with prosecution, stating the state would be unlikely to prove Olive was the perpetrator.

On the same date the charges were dismissed, Olive was sentenced to 84 to 113 months in prison in unrelated habitual felon cases. Court records indicate the victim in the burglary case did not wish to proceed with prosecution given the sentence Olive was already facing.
