Vigil Planned For SSS Students Killed In Car Crash

SMITHFIELD – Students and staff at Smithfield Selma High School will be honoring the lives of five students who have died this school year, including four teens who killed in a single car accident Monday morning on Interstate 95.

A Remembrance Vigil will take place Wednesday, January 24th at 6:00pm at the Charles T. Tucker Football Field at SSS. The vigil is open to everyone. You can bring a balloon to release during the event.

Students Alan Lockamy, Freddy Seras, Christopher Jackson and Semaj Williams died in Monday’s car crash. Kali Hwang died on November 1, 2023.

According to a Facebook post from SSS, school staff are collecting gift cards to be divided among the families. Students have a space in the school to hold a temporary memorial.

  1. Maybe at the vigil someone can explain why these kids were out at 2:30am driving 100+ MPH? Or why their parents were unaware? #TakeResponsibility

    • Maybe you can just keep your comments to yourself I guess your perfect and never done stupid things in your life when you where a teenager. Right now isn’t the time for your stupid comments Why don’t you come out and ask their family

    • Pretty da@@ callous. Poor choices were made that cost the lives of four young men that had their lives ahead of them. Because of that, four families will never be the same.

  2. Sad that 4 young lives were lost due to poor decision making and dangerous behavior. I hope this vigil will be used as a way to teach people that choices have consequences rather than a celebration of bad choices.
