Smithfield – Barry Eugene Thornton, age 57, passed away Tuesday April 19, 2022 at his home in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County on October 16, 1964 to Jerry Thornton and Barbara Byrd Thornton. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Fred and Mary Byrd, Paul and Ruth Thornton.
A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home Thursday April 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday from to 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.
In addition to his mother and father, Mr. Thornton is also survived by a daughter, Parker Thornton of Smithfield; sister, Phyllis Thornton of Smithfield.
Mr. Thornton was a member of Micro OFWB Church and a National Honor Society member. He enjoyed watching football, baseball, and UNC Tarheels basketball.
