Police Seek Missing Teen Who Left In Family Member’s Vehicle

Missing Teen May Be Headed To North Carolina Mountains

CLAYTON, N.C. – Clayton Police are asking for the public’s help locating a 17-year-old who has not been seen or heard from since leaving home Saturday morning.

Robert Allen Book III was reported missing after police said he took a black 2010 Kia Soul from a family member on Sept. 12.

His family told investigators it is unusual for Book to be gone for more than 24 hours without contacting anyone or returning home.

Family members said Book has previously expressed a desire to move to the mountains and “live off the land.”

His mother told police his cell phone has been turned off since he left, and there has been no cell phone activity on the account since he disappeared.

The Kia Soul is displaying North Carolina license plate LJY-8886.
