Report: Drug Suspect Claims ‘These Aren’t My Pants’

FOUR OAKS – A Four Oaks man arrested during a traffic stop reportedly told officers the pants he was wearing didn’t belong to him.

Around 2:28am Thursday, a Johnston County deputy was traveling on US 701 near Highway 96 and got behind a minivan that didn’t have a license plate. The officer pulled over the van as it pulled into the parking lot of the Traveler’s Inn on Highway 96.

The driver, identified as Richard Sharaz Salley, age 52, who lived in a room at the motel, was reportedly found with a crack cocaine smoking pipe in his pants pocket. Salley allegedly told officers the pants were not his.

Two small rocks of suspected cocaine were located inside the van, officers reported.

Salley was charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was confined in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
