$35,000 Reward Offered In Death Of Former Fremont Mayor

FREMONT – The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has announced a reward of up to $35,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of Floyd Anthony “Andy” Evans.  Two years ago today – on June 16, 2018 – Mr. Evans was found dead inside a detached garage located at 129 Evans Farm Road in Fremont.

Wayne County deputies with the assistance of the NC State Bureau of Investigation say they are still actively following leads associated with Evans’  death but so far have not been able to make an arrest. They hope the reward being paid for by private donations, the NC Governor’s Office, and Wayne County CrimeStoppers, which now totals $35,000, will prompt someone to come forward with information.

An autopsy report indicated the 65 year-old man died from a gunshot wound.

Mr. Evans was a former mayor of Fremont in the 1990s. He has previously served in leadership positions at Wayne Community College, Wayne County Young Farmers, and the NC Jaycees.

Anyone with information that could lead investigators to a suspect and give closure to the family of Andy Evans is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 919-731-1128 or the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 919-705-1862.
