Child Abuse Charges Filed Against Johnston County Couple
CLEVELAND – Child abuse charges have been filed against a Johnston County couple. Benjamin Thomas Mills, age 34, and Kerri Ann Mills, age 37, were arrested on warrants.
On April 25, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Johnston County Department of Social Services went to an address on Julio Lane, off NC Highway 42 West, to check on the welfare of two minor children at the home.
Hair samples taken from both children later tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, authorities allege. During a search of Benjamin Mills, a small amount of suspected Fentanyl was reportedly found.
The Department of Social Services took custody of the children and later placed them with a relative. Their ages were not disclosed.
Benjamin Mills was charged May 1 with felony possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of child abuse. He was given a $15,000 secured bond, according to a booking report. Kerri Mills was charged the same day with two misdemeanor counts of child abuse. She was given a $3,000 secured bond.

The Mills look like a drug using family. How did the kids end up showing positive? That tells me the bond should have been much much higher then they got away with. Good job judge. Time for the judge to retire. Thats just my opinion!
