From Benson To Broadway: Young Model Selected For New York Fashion Week

BENSON, N.C. — A 12-year-old Benson girl is preparing to take her talents to one of the biggest stages in the fashion world.
Saylor-Claire Herring, the reigning American United Miss Preteen National Queen, has been selected to model in New York Fashion Week this September in New York City.
She will participate in the Timeless Beauty Fashion Show as part of a full scholarship opportunity that covers her participation and related expenses.
As part of the program, Herring will take part in runway appearances, be featured on a Times Square billboard, appear in a two-page magazine spread, and participate in professional photoshoots. She will also attend a series of exclusive fashion week events and experiences throughout the week.
New York Fashion Week is held twice a year and is considered one of the most influential events in the global fashion industry. It draws more than 200,000 attendees, including designers, models, photographers, media professionals, influencers, and buyers from around the world.
Organized in part by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and supported by major production companies such as IMG, the event is regarded as one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks alongside Paris, Milan, and London, and plays a key role in shaping upcoming global fashion trends.
For Herring, the selection marks a significant milestone at a young age and an opportunity to step onto an international stage alongside emerging and established talent.
She is the daughter of Corby and Ericka Herring of Benson.

She looks a lot older than 12 in the picture on the right!
12 is way too young to be thrown into the world of fashion. There should be a legal age limit on allowing a child to be subjected to the world of vanity and looks.
You do realize she has been doing pageants for years. And for her, it is an accomplishment she can be proud of! For someone who knows nothing about this young lady, or her family, I would suggest doing a deeper dive into what these girls actually learn through pageants! They are learning confidence and self awareness in a way that even girl scouts can’t teach.
I’m not saying that absolutely nothing good can come from competition but what I am saying is find me a model who hasn’t struggled with not feeling good enough, anorexia and the constant pressure of having to be beautiful. I also agree with the comment above me, she does NOT look 12 in that second picture! She looks 25! That alone is scary!
The above commenter is probably concerned about the pedophiles who will definitely be there, gawking at this innocent 12 year old child. (It is New York City, by the way.) The parents should let the child be a child, if she chooses that lifestyle when she’s an adult, that’s all well and good. More power to her. Plus, that much makeup on a 12 year old should be a crime, I’m sure she is beautiful without it.
You do realize JoCo has its share of pedophiles. Way too many – there are several lists and apps available. Of course not all follow the law and register their current address. One does not – nor ever has – had to go to NYC – to be around pedophiles.
Yeah… pageants are gross.
Stunning!
12 looking 20+ never understood why a young lady has to have all of the makeup. Beauty is natural and the makeup makes them look so fake. She is very young and should not have to cover her natural beauty. These days fake hair, lashes, spray tans and tons of makeup and often fake teeth where is the beauty in being so fake.
What a beautiful young lady! This will be an experience if a lifetime!
Just beware as pageants are one thing…. Modeling is another ball game altogether. There is a difference… Now, she may get there and decide after it is all said and done, that the modeling may not be her “cup of tea”. But if it is, then I would think her parents would have her to wait till she is older to get into THAT industry. The modeling industry is all about youth and fresh and “upcoming”…. all that, but 12, in my humble opinion, is too young.
I hope that while she is there, she will be able to talk to people who have been “down the road” and back and tell her the pros and cons, some models “go south” and others stay on track for the length of their journey. And I am sure her parents will help guide her. They still have the right to say “….ahhhhhh…..absolutely not!”…
All in all, I hope she enjoys her time there, learns a lot, takes it all in and has fun!! She will meet people and see things that not many people she knows here have ever done! I am excited for her!!
